What is the difference between a MasterCard credit card or a debit card and a Titanium Plus Prepaid MasterCard card? The Titanium Plus Prepaid MasterCard card looks similar to a MasterCard credit card - both have the MasterCard trademark and hologram and merchants will electronically accept Titanium like any other MasterCard card. The difference is that Titanium cardholders don't have a line of credit. The Titanium card is only able to access the prepaid amount of money you put on the card. Remember, you load it, you control it! Â You will also notice that your Titanium card is "un-embossed" which means that the numbers are printed onto the surface of the card rather than as raised numbers (similar to a traditional credit card). We do this because a prepaid card cannot be used in old-fashioned imprint machines (i.e. those machines that take a carbon copy of your card number).
How do I activate my personalized Titanium card? You can activate your personalized Titanium card online by logging in to your free online account
or by calling customer support at 1-888-252-9535.
Your available balance, PIN, and passwords will automatically transfer to your permanent
Titanium card upon activation and you begin using your permanent Titanium card immediately.
Once the permanent Titanium card with your name on it is activated, your temporary instant issue
Titanium card will not work.
ABSOLUTELY! In fact, this is one of the best things about Titanium! You can always use your
Titanium card to make purchases at your favorite online stores, including gaming, dating and
travel sites and much, much more. Simply enter your card information when prompted at the checkout
and you’re good to go. Why are there 2 cards - instant issue and permanent? The Instant Issue Titanium card allows you to start using Titanium immediately. Your permanent card comes
printed with your name on it – so your temporary card gives us time to personalize your card but still
lets you use Titanium (with all the benefits!) in the meantime. The main benefit of personalizing your card
is that the chances of someone using your card fraudulently go down as they may need to show further ID to
use the card. What is my spending limit, and what is the maximum balance I can have on my card? With Titanium, you set the limit on your card by loading funds to your available balance. The maximum available
balance you can have is $5,000. Check the Limits & Fees section for additional information on daily
limits for purchases and ATM cash withdrawals. How will I know my card balance? Titanium is the first prepaid MasterCard card to offer you FREE alerts.
Alerts are another way we make your life easier. With daily balance and transaction alerts you'll always
know your available balance and you will receive updates every time you swipe or load your MasterCard card.
Alerts can be sent as a text message to your cellular phone and/or as an email. Check with your cellular
provider as they may charge a fee for receiving web based text alerts. Why was my purchase declined? Your Titanium card’s available balance was probably less than the purchase amount. If you know the
approximate value of the balance on your card, you can ask the retailer to do a split transaction and pay
the difference using another method of payment to make up the difference between the amount of funds
available on your card and the purchase amount. (Note: Merchants are not obliged to do this). Merchants
are unable to view or obtain the balance on your card. This is another great reason to sign up for free alerts, because you’ll always know your card balance. Can I make preauthorized and other bill payments with my card? You sure can! Just check with the company you want to pay and see if they take MasterCard cards.
If they do, you just follow their instructions and set up your payments from there. What happens when I return something that I purchased with my card? The merchant may credit the refund amount to your card or provide you with cash or in-store credit
depending on their policy. You are not allowed to request a merchant to credit your card without a
corresponding purchase originating at that merchant, funds from these credit situations will not be
credited to your available balance. Are there fees associated with using Titanium? Titanium is the only prepaid card that offers you a choice between pay as you go and a flat
monthly fee – you decide what’s right for you. Check the Fees and Limits schedule and cardholder
agreement for details. Help! I forgot my username, online password, telephone access code or PIN. What do I do? Click on the Forgot Password link, enter the required information and your new password will
immediately be emailed to the email address in your account profile; or, sign in and click the appropriate
link to update your user name, online password, PIN, and telephone access code; or, call customer
support at 1-888-252-9535. Please note that we do not keep a record of your PIN. When will my Titanium card expire? Your personalized Titanium card will expire approximately two years from the date you get it.
Check the valid dates that appear on your card to be sure. The temporary instant issue
MasterCard card will not work after you activate your personalized card and should be destroyed.
Provided there is a minimum balance of $10.00 on your card and there has been activity on it
within the 90 days previous to the card expiry date, a replacement card with a new extended
expiry date will be sent to you FREE of charge! I've lost my card, how do I get a new one? Call customer support at 1-888-252-9535 immediately to report that your
Titanium card is lost or stolen. You should also do this if someone else becomes aware of your PIN.
If you’re calling from outside of Canada or the US, call 801-924-1749. Once your card is reported
lost or stolen, it will immediately be cancelled and your funds will be protected. A replacement
card will be mailed within 10 days. Upon activation, any remaining available balance will be
automatically transferred to your new card. You will need to set up a new PIN online at
www.MyTitanium.ca or by calling customer support at
1-888-252-9535. Are the funds on my card protected from unauthorized transactions or if my card is lost or stolen? Under MasterCard’s Zero Liability policy, you will not be liable for any unauthorized POS transactions
made with your lost or stolen MasterCard card unless you have been grossly negligent or have engaged in fraud.
The Zero Liability policy does not apply to ATM transactions where the PIN is used. You are responsible for
all uses of your card with the PIN at an ATM, whether initiated by you or anyone else using your card and PIN.
Transactions in the authorization detail section means the merchant has sent notice of a transaction either
in store, online, mail, telephone or bill payment for the specified amount, but the merchant hasn't yet sent
through a settlement request for the final amount. Until the merchant settles the transaction, the temporarily
authorized amount is unavailable for new purchases or ATM withdrawals. When we receive the final transaction
settlement request, the transaction is considered settled and the amount of the transaction plus any
applicable fees for the transaction will be deducted from the available balance of your card. A pre-authorization occurs when a merchant temporarily holds a portion of the funds on top of your purchase
amount. This is normal practice for merchants accepting credit and prepaid cards - it ensures that your card
is valid and that you have sufficient funds to cover the anticipated final amount of your purchase.
Until the merchant settles the transaction, pre-authorized funds and the purchase amount are unavailable
for new purchases or ATM withdrawals. When we receive the final transaction settlement request, the transaction
is considered settled and the amount of the purchase and/or transaction plus any applicable fees for the
transaction will be deducted from the available balance associated with your card - typically within 3 days.
In the event that the purchase amount is less than the pre-authorized amount, those remaining funds
will be released once the transaction is settled. Even though your Titanium card is prepaid, it is possible for it to have a negative balance. An authorization
request for a purchase amount exceeding your available balance will be declined. However, some types
of retail transactions can result in a negative balance on your card, if you have not ensured that
there are sufficient funds on your card to cover the transaction. In this event, you will be responsible
for the negative balance on your card. You will not automatically receive a monthly paper statement in the mail. To view your monthly
statement or to access your transaction history, use your free online account or call customer support
at 1-888-252-9535. Upon your request and for a fee, Peoples Trust will
mail to you a written statement of transactions made with your card. Only the cardholder whose name appears on the card may use the card. You are solely responsible
for the care and control of your card and for maintaining the confidentiality of your PIN. Your PIN
is provided solely for your use and security when withdrawing cash from ATMs. You should not maintain
a written record of or disclose your PIN or online access information to a third party, including family
members and friends. Please see the Titanium Plus Prepaid MasterCard Agreement for more details on
Zero Liability protection. You can review your transaction history online using your free online account or by calling customer
support at 1-888-252-9535. Sometimes merchants operate under a different
name than the actual store. If you determine an error in any transaction record you must address such
error with the applicable merchant or ATM operator. If this is the case, request that the merchant
reverse the transaction and credit your account with the funds. If the merchant refuses to assist,
please call customer support at 1-888-252-9535 to report the disputed transaction. You may only have one Titanium card in your name. If your other family members are eligible, they will
be able to have their own Titanium card. A very important question! So please see the
Titanium Plus Prepaid MasterCard Agreement for information on the confidentiality of your
information. When cash is lost, it is gone forever. However, your Titanium card has got you covered!
If it’s ever lost or stolen, you're protected with MasterCard's Zero Liability Policy.
Your card will be replaced and the balance transferred to your new card. The replacement
card usually arrives in 5-10 business days. Not at all. Since there is no credit involved in the card, we have a 100% approval rate. Absolutely! The more the merrier! There’s no connection between your other card and your Titanium card.
You certainly can. There’s no connection between your other card and your Titanium card. You can use your card to withdraw cash at any ATM that displays the Cirrus logo. Simply enter your
PIN number when asked to do so and choose the “chequing” option. Use may be subject to additional
ATM fees by the ATM provider.  Because the Titanium card does not offer a line of credit, it will not impact your credit rating.
